Just south of Cancún, Puerto Morelos is a quieter town with a protected National Marine Park. The Park allows coral formations, abundant tropical fish, and larger sea life like barracudas. Snorkelers must go with certified guides to preserve the reef’s health.

Cozumel

Cozumel is a snorkelling destination that is a ride away from Playa del Carmen, which is about an hour from Cancun. Palancar and Columbia reefs are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and are home to a wide variety of coral species, tropical fish, sea turtles, and even dolphins.

Part of the Mesoamerican Reef, this spot is known for being less crowded and tranquil.
